When you have to work with what you’ve got.

Well it looks like were finally getting some snow and three of the main resorts we go to are open! Got a little bit o’ snow last week so I am finally starting to shift my mode of thinking to the soft stuff. I can’t wait to get my kids up there as soon as we have a bit more base and things have ramped up enough. I grew up skiing at Gore Mountain and also learned to snowboard there and Whiteface a good while ago
on one of the earlier Burton Boards,
(<– today’s version) all before moving out West, where I first learned how to really be spoiled. I skied free while working at the Bird for reason’s… well, those of you who have ever been there or Alta and been in those shoes know why and it really needs no explanation! Needless to say, kind of hard to compete, its just a simple combination of lake effect, monster mountain storm cages and low humidity.
Currently Snowshoe is at 28 degrees with an average base of 18-28″. Getting close to half the slopes being open! Its not a whole lot but its a good start. Sugar is at 12-42″ base and Beach is at 6-16″ base.
