Powder Days at a Hidden Resort!
Feb 14th, 2009 by Admin 1
I am back from a 5 day trip to Utah. I have had several great trips out there since I moved away from Salt Lake but I was lucky in the timing and this one beat them all! This last Monday ended up being a pow day!
After a straight flight from Atlanta to Salt Lake I was able to ski free the same day as my flight on the 5th
using the Park City quick start recommended by my brother in law. By filling out, printing and bringing the voucher, my boarding pass, and my I.D. to the ticket window at The Canyons we were on the mountain within an hour of landing. The first day wasn’t a powder day but was still fun. The next day we worked most of the day but were able to squeeze in some cross country skiing near the Uinta’s at Cedar Hollow.
Saturday we headed up to Snowbasin to get all day top to bottoms with very few crowds. This reconfirmed my high opinion of this resort as being on top of the favorites list.

The highlight of the day was when we hiked up behind De Moisy Peak to come back around and drop into one of the chutes. Judging by the map, somewhere near Arrowhead I think.
The next day it was back to The Canyons because its a shorter drive. It was fun and there was more snow than on Thursday, our previous trip, but the parking lot was full of beaters guzzling beers and blasting horrible beater type music. It reminded me a lot of back East and the North Carolina scene. The best part of the day was getting to see my nephew ripping it up at the early age of 5.
The final day of riding was by far the best. It was a Monday, lots of powder, and we were back at Snowbasin! The visibility was poor at the top for a while and navigating was a little sketchy until we dropped lower each run but we were all too pleased with the pow for it to make a difference. The ski area is so large and spread out and there were so few people that you barely knew anyone else was there. When I was leaving there was news of more storms rolling in and from what I hear this weekend should be another great one in the Wasatch.

really gorgeous.
Thanks, its hard not to love this place!
