Directions: From I75, take exit 320 towards LaFayette. Take a left on Furnace Creek Road. Take a left on Pocket Rd. (Scenic By-Way) Take a left into The Pocket Picnic Area.
The Pocket Interpretive Nature Trail follows the longer 2 1/2 mile hiking trail before branching off and returning to the picnic area. This area is called the Pocket because it is a valley surrounded by the Mill and Horn mountains that create a horseshoe around the area. Along the trail there are several key points of interest like sink holes that are currently filled with water but tend to dry up when rainy period slows down.

There are large springs along the colluvial floor while passing through several different species of trees such as Virginia Pine, Oaks, Hickory, and other various hardwoods. Spring and into Summer is a great time to hike this trail when pink lady slippers, trillium, mayapples, bluets, violets and more.
