Boling Park Trails

Just a quick note on to those of you who enjoy hiking in Cherokee County and may have seen our earlier posts on the Etowah River Trails, and have seen some of my earlier posts on the Green Blaze trail.
I still do not have an update on a new map for the trails but I wanted to give you a tip on parking. If you are looking to skip the front end of the hike starting at Boling Park and go right to the green blaze trail, you might consider parking at the gate near the cemetery at Hightower Church which gives you direct access to the green and white blazed trail. I did last Friday and when you don’t have a lot of time it comes in handy. I wouldn’t try parking there on Sunday or when church is in session but there are currently no signs to deter you from parking here.
Directions: From the intersection of Hwy 5/515 and 140/Waleska St. (YMCA on corner) head Northwest approx. 200ft. on 140 towards Waleska. Turn left (first main road on your left) at Donaldson Rd. which becomes Shoal Creek Rd. Follow Shoal Creek which becomes Old Shoal Creek Road veering left at Y’s in the road. Park past the church on the right near cemetery.
