Back up to Springer Mountain
Feb 25th, 2008 by Admin 1
Not that anyone is listening but I managed to get some time to hike the second leg of my plan to section hike as much of the A.T. as possible while still keeping my job and my family. I tried to wait for some decent weather before heading back to Springer Mountain like I said I was planning to do if you read my Approach Trail Blog. Taking the family and the dog this time and slowing down the pace a little. The weather was great when we got there but quickly started to cloud over as we hit the trail.
I took some of the shots I wanted to take the last time I was here a couple weeks back but had forgotten my camera. Unfortunately, luck was not on my side so some of the great views from Springer Mountain and from the trail all the way along were not as great as they were before, with it being overcast.
I headed back-words towards Amicalola a little then reversed and went the other way beginning the next leg. We ran out of time so we didn’t make it very far the other direction. The next time I plan to go up and park at Springer Mountain once again and make my way down to Long Creek and we will see how it goes from there.![]()
Here are some more photos from this last trip. They are by no means as good as I would have liked them to be but maybe I can get up there to camp soon and take a few more.

Just gotta love those views. Wish I lived close to those trails. Maybe someday I’ll get to hike them with you. You can show me the great spots
Yeah, you need to get up here a do at least a few sections with me. Things have been busy at work so I have been slacking on the posts but we did get to go camping at Bear Creek this week which was mmm mmmmm! No one up there!
