Mark,

Ha, yeah, you might think about just hanging onto it and not using it. Its a classic!

Vortex definitely spared no expense with the materials used! As I've said before (and its still true today) its held up so well its still basically brand new! The only downside is the weight but the pack expands at the top so much I'll be hanging on to it and using it for all my longer trips....

Thanks for your input Mark!

I purchased the Vortex 4500 in 97 or 98'. Since then, I've not used it once. That's right, not once. I had kids and then had fusion back surgery. But that was then and I pulled it out and was blown away at the details, quality and thoughtfulness for that time period's latest technology.
I bought a Gregory Backpack (Baltaro 75) and while this is a superb pack with an outstanding suspension, the Vortex is just as good if not better based on design to sit on your hips taking weight off your back. But it's the way it's made that impresses me. Why other companies don't emulate this design is strange although since the quest for shedding weight is paramount, some incredible designs have been looked over in lieu lighter materials and sacrificing some things that maybe they should not.
I'm not taking back the Gregory Baltaro but I am going to be incorporating the Vortex into some excursions. I may be the only guy in the country with a brand new Vortex 4500 in my possession. Maybe I should keep it new and just admire it.

I had got a desire to begin my company, however I didn't have got enough amount of cash to do that. Thank goodness my dude recommended to utilize the credit loans. So I received the collateral loan and realized my desire.

Often we forget the little guy, the SMB, in our discussions of the comings and goings of the Internet marketing industry. Sure there are times like this when a report surfaces talking about their issues and concerns but, for the most part, we like to talk about big brands and how they do the Internet marketing thing well or not so well.

Mike,

You are right. That is essentially the answer I got and the reason behind the direction change for the company when I called previously. Great to here the product quality has not waivered in the shift to the hunting/fishing niche. Thanks for the insight!

I have used the vortex 4500 and the badlands 4500 and the 1st generation badlands 4500 was virtually identical to the vortex. They obviously based their design on the vortex. The suspension is amazing on both packs. My understanding is that when the badlands packs were introduced as hunting packs, the demand was so sharp that they have moved strictly in that direction. They claim to have 50% annual growth, or some similiar ridiculous number. I is understandable as they are the easiest carrying packs I have used. Their unconditional lifetime warranty is the best.

I called the number on the site 801 978 2207. A person answered both times. The first call I left a voice mail to the person she said I need to talk to. After a couple days I called back and a guy answered. I told them I had a warranty claim and he just transferred me to the warranty dept. They were super friendly and told me to mark everything that needs fixed and send it in. All I have to pay is 12.00 for shipping. They were super-helpful and very professional. They gave me a RA# and I sent it in. That is truly great customer service. I'll post back when I get it back.

I'm sure it's a great pack since it's the same company, but I'm not a big fan of the camo. Thankfully mine is still in great shape after much use. I'm hoping they'll offer some solid colors before mine wears out. Thanks for your comment.

Josh,
I agree that it's worth it to have it repaired. I'd do the same, but so far so good. I'm up to 15 years and counting, no damage and it still looks brand new. Thanks for your comment.
