Montrail Highlander Trail Running Shoes - Women’s

That’s some shoe, huh? How ’bout the colors on those babies?
I got these Montrail Highlander Trail Running Shoes for Christmas and I was a little shocked at the colors when I opened the box. Not really what I would normally go for in a running shoe, but if you’ve ever worn Montrail before, you know they’re worth a try.
It took me a while to get used to them on my feet, but by the end of the day I decided I like them enough to keep them. I took a walk in them that night just through the neighborhood and was pleased. The next day I wore them on our Reinhardt College Trail hike. The trail was wet and muddy, but they have very good traction, so no sliding. The footbed is also comfy and supportive, but not super cushy. I have used them on the gravel track at our local park several times now, and a couple hikes, and am happy with their over all performance.
I am a medium fit, and they have kind of a narrow and snug fit, but enough give to not cramp the toes. The heel was a little stiff at first and it felt like it sort of bruised me a little, but it only to 2 wears to break them in. They also run just a little long, but are still pretty true to size.
Not my most favorite trail runner, but better than adequate, and certainly worth the sale price at backcountry.com outlet.
