Ocoee River
Dec 23rd, 2007 by Admin 1
We headed back up to the Ocoee River recently but I forgot my camera so I have included a couple from a previous trip. The Ocoee was the site of the 1996 Summer Olympic Canoe/Kayaking Slalom Course. I actually enjoyed it even more in many ways before the Olympic team got their hands on it but its a good central hub for many other activities in the area. Located along the edge of 5,600 acres of the Little Frog Mountain Wilderness area and stationed between Parksville Campground and Chilhowee Rec Area its a pretty busy spot most of the time and lots of activities to offer.
The 10th Annual Festival of Trees is currently going on from December 1st - 30th where local businesses, schools etc.. have decorated trees in various themes! The kids liked it a lot.
Check out Kayaks and Rafts from these guys over at Rock Creek , located right in the area, if you are in the market for some great gear. Or maybe you’re just getting started, and looking to go up for the day, you can check out rentals or guided tours.
