As we have said in a previous post, Lake Conasauga (or as we like to call it “Kinda Soggy”, since its like the rain forest ) is a great place for family camping in North Ga. It is one of our favorites and we usually camp there several times per year. We have only experienced one bad weekend in the eight years we’ve been camping there.
Our trip up there last week was good as usual. We had heavy rain through Saturday so we decided to head home a day early but were able to spend a couple days kayaking and doing some light hiking with friends. I don’t think we’ll ever get sick of this place. You can see why from the pictures and of course they don’t do it justice.
A word of advice for those heading up there soon: The bears have been really active this season so be prepared to clean up after yourself really well. You cannot leave anything food related out and please don’t put it in your tent, not even your toothpaste. The ranger will issue you a ticket if you leave your cooler out. We have had experiences with bears here and have always been extremely careful here because of the huge Black Bear population in the area.
